Land Trusts as an entity

• The first Land Trusts were founded in the early 1900's in the Northeast.
  


• In 1950 only 53 land trusts operated in 26 states. By 2005 more than 1,500 land trusts operate serving every state in the nation.

NWA Land Trust

• 2003 - filed amended and restated article of organization with Arkansas Secretary of State
  


• 2003 - received "determination letter" from the IRS recognizing the Trust as a non-profit organization and allowing tax deductions for donations
  


• 2003 - Board of Directors formed and adopted a conflict of interests policy
  


• 2004 - Public Announcement regarding our organization and purpose
  


• 2005 - Community "Listening Phase"
  


• 2005 - Became members in the Land Trust Alliance which can be referenced at www.lta.org/findlandtrust/AR.htm
