Celebrate our community with us on October 17!
The Northwest Arkansas Land Trust is excited to be a part of OneCommunity’s ArkanSalsa Fest on October 17. ArkanSalsa Fest is an annual event that takes place on Emma Avenue in downtown Springdale.
Here is what OneCommunity has to say about ArkanSalsa Fest:
“ArkanSalsa Fest is an eclectic art and music festival to raise money for scholarships and to inspire community leaders. The festival celebrates the rich diversity of Northwest Arkansas by bringing people together and offering them a chance to meet new amigos/friends while listening to music, dancing, eating delicious food & visiting with local nonprofit organizations and businesses that benefit us all in our area.”
We are excited to be a part of this fun-filled day! For more information, click here.

Join the festivities at this year’s Big Sit and Birding 101!
Football season is in full swing, and that means that it is also tailgate season! In honor of this beloved tradition, we are holding the Big Sit at Wilson Springs Preserve on Sunday November 1 from 1-4pm.
The Big Sit is a “tailgate party for birders,” in which birdwatchers sit in designated areas to count the number of birds they see or hear. It’s that easy! Drinks and snacks will be provided as part of the tailgating atmosphere. If you have never been birdwatching before, this is a great opportunity to start. In addition to regular activities, there will also be “Birding 101,” a short introductory clinic for new birders. So whether you are an experienced birder or a newcomer, come on out and enjoy the festivities!
Be sure to bring a camp chair and binoculars. We’ll provide the rest!

Show your support for green space by commenting on the draft NWA Open Space Plan!
The DRAFT Northwest Arkansas Open Space Plan is available for your review and comment HERE. Please take a few minutes to review the Plan and the Appendix. The comment period will end October 31, 2015, so be sure to take this opportunity to add your voice to the process. It is important that this Plan meet the open space needs for Northwest Arkansas and your input is necessary to ensure that it does.
The draft is a fascinating and comprehensive approach to identifying areas of high conservation value in Northwest Arkansas. The maps alone are interesting, but the Plan as a whole will make land conservation in our area easier and more efficient.
Thanks to the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and ALTA for putting this together, and thank you for your participation! Your input can make a difference on the Green Spaces in your community.
