Join us in honoring the legacy of Betty Hinshaw, a dedicated environmentalist and cherished community advocate, by helping restore the land she loved. The Betty Hinshaw Bird Sanctuary, a 25-acre property donated by Betty Hinshaw to the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust (NWALT) in 2022, is being transformed from its past as grazing and hay fields back to its natural state as native grassland habitat. With the support of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and local partners, we’re working to make Betty's vision a reality—creating a haven for birds, wildlife, and people alike.


This winter, NWALT is focused on restoring native grasslands and planting native hardwood trees and shrubs along Little Wildcat Creek. These efforts will enhance habitat for grassland birds, improve water quality, and expand the property’s riparian…
