War Eagle Creek Initiative

War Eagle Creek is the largest tributary to Beaver Lake, drinking water source for 550,000 residents in Northwest Arkansas. Segments of the creek are impaired due to turbidity and pathogens. Twenty-seven Species of Greatest Conservation Need occur in War Eagle Creek, including two federally protected species. War Eagle Creek watershed is also under a USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) with $5 million in dedicated funding to landowners and producers in the watershed. The Land Trust is one of 15 partners working on this project and is actively working with landowners to place at least 200 acres under permanent conservation easements.
