A Spring Season Worth Celebrating: Letter from Grady
This spring has been an extraordinary season of stewardship, one filled with moments we can all celebrate together. Because of your belief in the mission of NWALT, we’ve been able to protect strategic properties that will strengthen water quality, safeguard wildlife habitat, and preserve the natural character of Northwest Arkansas for generations.
One of the most inspiring highlights of the season has been our partnership with the Mowry family. Together, we protected 30 acres of high‑conservation‑value land along War Eagle Creek, an area rich in habitat, water resources, and ecological significance. Their leadership and commitment to conservation were recognized when they were named the Beaver Watershed Alliance War Eagle Creek Stewards of the Year, a well‑deserved honor that reflects the very best of what conservation partnerships can achieve.
We also celebrated a remarkable community win in Goshen. The City of Goshen is expanding Mill Branch Park by approximately 50 percent with the addition of 50 acres of newly protected open space, made possible through a partnership with NWALT and a generous land donation from Dick Bennett. This expansion not only enhances local recreation opportunities but also ensures that this beautiful landscape will remain a community treasure forever.
Your generosity during NWA Gives and the Season of Stewardship carried that spirit forward. Together, you helped us surpass our $5,000 goal for NWA Gives and exceed our $40,000 goal for the Season of Stewardship. These achievements speak not just to financial support, but to the deep trust you place in NWALT’s work. They may seem like small victories on the surface, but they are the essential building blocks of permanent land protection. They are the quiet, powerful wins that make everything else possible.
Your passion for our mission is what drives us. It fuels our team, strengthens our resolve, and reminds us why this work matters. As we continue our journey through 2026, we hope you’ll invite others to join the Roots Collective, support conservation through giving, volunteer your time, or simply help spread the word by engaging with our social media. Every action large or small adds up to real impact.
Because of you, NWALT can continue protecting the lands that shape our daily lives: the clean water we depend on, the farms that feed our communities, the trails and open spaces where we find rest, and the habitats that sustain the rich diversity of life around us.
Thank you for being part of this story. Thank you for believing in the power of permanent land protection. And thank you for walking alongside us in this work. From the bottom of our NWALT heart, we are grateful.
