10k4NWA Nears Home Stretch with Record 2024 for NWALT

2024 was our biggest year ever for land protection at NWALT! We started the year strong by placing a conservation easement on Lincoln Lake in Washington County and Sweden Creek Farms in Madison County. Two more conservation easements in Madison County, three more in Washington County, plus an acquisition in Benton County and special project (more info coming soon) in Madison County brought the 2024 acreage to 1,824! This brings NWALT’s grand total of permanently protected acreage in the region to 9,319 acres.

“It was such an exciting year,” stated Evan Johnson, NWALT Conservation Easement Manager. “We had such an outpouring of support from landowners, donors, and the community. It really goes to show the power of people in our region to permanently protect our natural heritage and the places we all love here.”

With less than 700 acres to go to reach our 10,000-acre goal, 2025 is already shaping up to be another pivotal year for the Land Trust. “With our community’s support we’ve been able to steadily increase the pace of conservation in Northwest Arkansas,” remarked NWALT CEO, Grady Spann. “10,000 protected acres will be a huge milestone for the Land Trust. That’s an area four times the size of Devil’s Den State Park! We’re just so grateful to our landowners and communities for entrusting us with the protection of their lands.”
